OK, so what/who is this, anyway???

I have decorated our home for the fall season, and I gathered some acorns to go with the Indian corn and fall leaves I have placed here and there around our house. This morning I noticed that four of the acorns have little holes in them, and tiny piles of "sawdust" gathering on the surface of the table they are laying on. Is something and/or someone living in my acorns? Is this common, or I am just special??? Are there any aspiring scientists out there who would like to hazard a guess? Should I leave these acorns in my house, or will I definitely regret it if I do???

Mom - Chris says those are definitely Acorn Mites. He's pretty sure about that. You'll be able to tell for sure if you hold them close to your ear, you will hear a light tapping sound. You'll want to keep anything that came from Bob's Red Mill out of reach, because that's what they thrive on.

Thanks loads, Sarah - our home is practically stocked from floor to ceiling with Bob's products, so I guess we're in for a bombardment of mites...
